The ball valve is so called because the ball has a cylindrical shape. It is mainly designed for throttling when it needs to be tightly closed, frequently opened and closed, and when the fluid needs to control the flow rate. Its most important feature is effective throttling, which minimizes the wire drawing phenomenon and thus reduces the erosion of the valve and valve seat. However, because the valve seat is parallel to the streamline, the change of flow direction when the fluid flows through this type of valve seat will cause turbulence in the valve and a decrease in the pressure drop. It is only suitable for use when the head is lost due to pressure drop.

The structure and characteristics of the angle valve are modified from the ball valve, and the only difference is that the outlet and the inlet are at a right angle of 90 degrees.

Purpose of ball valve and angle valve

As the name suggests, the ball valve core is in the shape of a ball, and water flows out from the round hole in the middle of the ball. Generally, the handle is used to control the opening and closing. However, the ball valve can only be opened and closed, and cannot adjust the flow. To put it bluntly, if you half-open and half-close it, the flow rate flowing through it is not about 50% and fluctuates greatly. In addition, if the ball valve is half-opened and half-closed artificially, it will damage the ball valve and greatly shorten its life. Ball valves are mainly used for the hot and cold water inlet of heating.

The angle valve is called an angle valve because its water inlet and outlet are perpendicular to each other at a 90-degree angle, unlike the ball valve, which is straight in and out. The angle valve acts as a partition medium to facilitate the maintenance of terminal equipment. It is generally used for washbasins, kitchen sinks, toilet tanks, and cold and hot water inlet pipes of water heaters. When the water pipe has an unexpected situation or breaks and leaks after many years, the angle valve can be closed at this time, which will not affect the normal water use at home and avoid economic losses.
